"Pear Halves on a Scarf," 6x8, oil on canvas board

I seem to be painting fruit halves on plates. A friend gave us some oranges, and that started me looking around at the grocery store. The thing that's kind of a kick about this one is that the focal items (the pear halves) have the least intensity. The plate and the scarf are much more saturated.

  2. I should probably read the posts and would realize the apples are actually pears.

    Either way good harmony.

  3. Hi Elio. Thanks for dropping by and for your kind comment. Also, yeah, it was kind of a squat pear and does look like an apple.

  4. Doesn't look anything like an apple! psh!
Love the graphic quality of this painting. Yes, the supporting elements are more saturated than the focal point, but the value difference is what makes the pears stand out. Really NICE!

  5. Yeah, "graphic" is the right word. I'm feeling myself pulled toward something a little more abstract recently. Never know where this painting thing will go. Hey, I need to find out about your artists' reception!
