Artist's vision

"During this workshop I would like to bring you to a point where enjoying what you are doing is initially more important than the result you have in mind. Once you have reached this point a new creativity will appear in your works.

"With all you already know about composition, start to play. I can give you some advice in making your composition stronger. Using different materials enlarges the possibilities to add extra dimensions to your paintings. More structure, more 3d elements.

"The use of new materials, sand, sawdust, iron, zinc, fabrics, sandpaper, canvas, marble powder, coffee....

"I want to help you avoid the temptation that material is taking over from your creativity. We will try to listen to what the painting is asking instead of being ruled by some material or some 3d elements.
I hope to be a guide and in the same time an attitude of let it it happen. This without losing control.

"We will learn to find a way to come from chaos to order and quietness.

"We will learn to read our painting. Each part plays its role in the whole."

Staying in Santa Cruz

The workshop allows you to have a wonderful long weekend. The Santa Cruz area is beautiful, and rich with interesting sites to see. And since the painting day ends at 3 pm, there's time to explore and wonderful places for dinner. A few web searches will give you sites that describe the area.

INFORMATION: The  most useful locations for staying are the west side, where the workshop will be given, or close to Pacific Avenue, which is downtown Santa Cruz. Hotels on Yelp or Hotels.com (or whatever tool you prefer to use) should specify these locations. If you're flying in, the closest major airport is San Jose (SJC). You will need a car.
